Camps of fostering skills of independent life
The main aim of the project is to help people with severe disability to develop mail skills of independent, active and full life.
The Lithuanian Association of People with Disabilities, referring to the character of disability, organises camps of two types: 1. For people after injuries of the spine and the brain who move in wheelchairs (camps have been organised since 1996) 2. For people suffering from multiple sclerosis and muscle atrophy (camps have been organised since 2006)
Camps of fostering skills of independent life are about 10 day duration activities for people in wheelchairs who have recently become disabled due to spinal traumas, brain injuries or other diseases. The participants have already had a certain period of rehabilitation but still lack a lot of knowledge how to control their “new” body.
